Surviving the Holidays: Chiropractor’s Edition

Holidays shouldn’t come with a side of back pain. 🎄✨ So here are a few simple, comfort-first reminders from Dr. Robin to keep your neck + low back feeling better all season.

The holidays are supposed to leave you with warm memories—not a stiff neck or an angry low back!

This time of year, a few patterns show up in our office again and again: long stretches of sitting in unfamiliar chairs, hours spent cooking on hard floors, travel days that tighten everything up, and sleeping in a bed that isn’t yours.

In this video Dr. Robin discusses small changes you can make to feel better:

  • When you’re seated for conversation aim to face your body more to the person you are talking to, avoiding kinks

  • Give your low back some support in the form of a pillow or rolled up scarf, or perch on the end of the chair if it is not very supportive

  • In the kitchen try to stand on an anti fatigue mat or use a low stool or pile of books to rest one foot up a step to relieve back tension

  • Choose to sit instead of stand when prepping vegetables

  • Lift heavy items out of the oven with a friend

  • When sleeping away from home consider bringing your own pillow
