Rib & Shoulder Blade Pain: All About & How We Solve It

Ever feel that stubborn ache behind your shoulder blade or across your mid-back? It might be more than just tight muscles. Watch this video to see how we approach this common issue in our practice. Check out Dr. Armstrong's video!

Do you ever feel an ache behind your shoulder blade—maybe even wrapping into your chest or spreading across your mid-back? You might be wondering if we can help, and what that might look like. We always start with a thorough history, a physical exam to determine the source of your problem, and then we want to optimize the whole area.

We might choose to use some of the techniques included in the video:

  • Muscle work to the muscles attaching between spine and the shoulder blade, shoulder blade to the neck, or the postural muscles of the chest

  • Impulse adjusting tool to the front of the ribs, back of the ribs or spine

  • Manual or “cracking” type adjustments to the ribs or spine

  • Homework - expect some advice about your work set up, car set up, or repositioning how you sit or sleep

If shoulder blade or rib pain has been holding you back, this may be the first step toward finding relief. Everyone’s situation is unique, and with the right approach, you can get back to moving and feeling your best.
