All about Frozen Shoulder & The Best Mobility Exercises

Frozen shoulder can be a scary and frustrating problem. But gentle mobility exercises can support faster recovery and reduce your pain. Send this video to someone you know with Frozen shoulder.

If your shoulder feels stiff, painful, or “stuck,” you’re not alone. Frozen shoulder—also known as adhesive capsulitis—can quietly limit your daily activities, making simple things like reaching, dressing, or sleeping uncomfortable and frustrating.

One of the most important things to understand about frozen shoulder is that movement matters. As the shoulder loses mobility, the surrounding tissues can tighten and become guarded, which may increase discomfort and slow recovery if left unaddressed.

In this video Dr. Robin demonstrates:

  • Weighted Arm Circles: This helps provide some traction on the shoulder passively

  • Assisted Range of Motion: Using a broom stick to passively increase External Rotation / Flexion / Abduction (sideways)

  • Active Range of Motion: Wall walking with the fingers in flexion and to the side

  • Isometric Strengthening: Pressing into the wall to begin light strengthening of the muscles

Frozen shoulder can be a frustrating and painful condition but being proactive about your recovery can speed things into the “melting” phase and getting you closer to pain free.
